Default To those who had upgraded only the sub - I need help!

I have premium alpine system with RER HU. I had recently replaced my stock sub system with JL Audio 250/1 V2 and JL Stealthbox and the delay on the sub was very noticeable that the sound system as a whole sounded worse than before the change. I tapped the 4 sub wires and connected to amp at speaker level. I tried all the recommended adjustments for the JL combination and could not make it blend right with the OEM system.

It was annoying so I uninstalled the JL combo and reinstalled the stock sub - sounded better as a whole system.

I have not heard of similar issues. It sounds like it may have been out of phase? Did you double-check your input/output wiring -- make sure you had the OE color codes correct? Maybe try an LOC instead of the speaker level inputs.

I use a LOC and have no such issues. I am actually using an aftermarket amp with the stock sub and it sounds good enough for me. I did not want to give up the stock setup with the underseat compartment cover.

I too am using a LOC with an additional aftermarket amp and sub. Have had no issues at all with sound and delay...

I'm sure it would work, but seems overkill if you're only adding a sub. I guess you could leave the additional 4 channels for expansion. I have a cheap 10-$15 one from Sonic -- with built-in remote turn-on. It worked great in my previous ride. I hope to use it in my Ram as well.

Yep, PAC SOEM-T is what I used. Works great. Has remote turn on that works off speaker input. No issues.

I am planning to add also a 4-channel amp.
