Default Driver's left foot rest

Not having a left foot rest (or dead pedal) on my 2011 ram 1500 Laramie is killing my back. Does anyone know of an aftermarket footrest and/or a DIY solution to this issue?

Thanks in advance.

there are some on ebay

but, from what i read, many people are making their own out of metal or wood & secured with velcro or screws
some people are putting matching carpet over the wood & some put some carpeting on the side kick panel so that their shoe doesn't mark up the panel
Jeep owners use a dead pedal to brace for cornering & rock climbing
03 Lexus IS300 uses a stock dead pedal

I'm with you man! My back and left leg hurt bad as I drive alot...I once drove a viper at a salvage yard I worked at and it had a "dead pedal" it was extremely comfortable. I'd love to find a nice product for my truck as well, I don't want to put something in that is not a good install....if you come up with anything please let me know!

I have not seen one but a wedge of hard rubber with a metal plate on top would do the trick.

I've had a few vehicles and I agree, a dead pedal is nice to have.

I'm right there with you Seam! I do a ton of miles in my truck and not having that dead pedal is also killing me slowly. I needed something to do this weekend, I'm going to try and make something.

You may find that you would have problems with your parking brake pedal, when engaged fully it gets close to the floor, right where a nice dead pedal should be placed, but if you wanted to get really fancy, you could design one with a cut out for the emergency brake pedal,in it

Here is the rough version. Built it with scrap I had lying around the garage. I wanted to see if I could actually make something that would really work before getting fancy. With heavier gauge steel the bracket would give more than enough support. The light steel I used wasn't heavy enough so I had to beef it up with a chunk of 2x4. For the foot plate I used a left over scrap of laminate I had. I'm going to test it out this week and will do a nicer job on the finished product.

Prototype

Installed...

With parking brake applied.

Hey, nice start... Looks like overall it will fit and workout, it could be nicely made from Aluminum once you get the final shape down, hey you might even want to market it yourself... Thanks, nice work

The tough part will be getting the mild steel bracket built. I know where a very nice aluminum foot bed is and it's pretty reasonably priced to boot! Will take me a little while but I'll get this mod nicely done.
