I have 305/55 BFG All terrains on my factory 20's with a 2.5" levelling kit. No rubbing. Tires stick out about 3/8" to 1/2" from the stock fenders (no factory flares).

ended up going with 285 60 20 on stock rims, not ready to dish out the extra cash on leveling. here is a pic of how they look. pretty cool, picture doesnt really do it justice.

They rubbed the sway bar a little before full lock. Wasn't bad till I started taking my trailer in and out of a few right lots that it was annoying. I like the 285's I have has them for a few months. I think it depends in the fire as well on how it will rub. Some tires have more side bite than others. I have 185 duratracs and I know a 305 would hit the sway bar with the side bite on the tread before full lock. I also tried some spacers and they have me a little vibration when I was on the highway. I tend to drive 75 to 80 a lot and usually 60 to 75 when hauling the trailer so the swap to the 285 made more sense. If I wasn't towing and pulling in tight lots I may have kept the zeon 305/55s they were nice and only rubbed them once in a while without the trailer. Just depends on whether you mind a little rub on hard turns or not. I know my friends 35's rub the plastic fender liner on his tundra but he is fine with it.

The reason I would think so is that I have read many, many posts about people running 305s with a 1/4" spacer and the 7mm less offset on a +12 offset rim as compared to stock equals 0.275" or a hair over a 1/4". So unless I am missing something the math says it should work. But RyanJM is saying 305/55 rubbed on +13 offset rims? 6mm equals 0.236" or just a hair under 1/4". Is that 1mm enough to make a difference, lol?

RyanJM, how bad did your +13 rims rub? Only at full lock or what?

As to your third question, yes any stock third or fourth gen Ram on stock 20" rims should be able to run a 275/65/20, 285/60/20, or 285/65/20 with no rubbing.

Ahhhh, dangit you are right. I'm sorry, my mistake. To the best of my knowledge there are only two tires made in 285/65/20. One of them is the BFG T/A KO (a great tire by the way) and I thought the other was the Duratrac but it isn't. The other is the Goodyear Wrangler MTR.

So let me regroup. You could still go with one of those two tires or you could go with the 285/60/20 (33.5x11.2x20) Duratrac. Or if you value taller over wider you could go with a 275/65/20 (34x10.8x20) instead of the 285/60. There are several good tires available in 275/65 including the Duratrac. Decisions, decisions, lol.

I have also noticed different clearing and rubbing depending on which stock wheel since they are 2 different widths. A 8" and a 9"

Now I have mine on my 13 lone star 4x4 without a level that goes in next week and I had a friend lock the wheels and I have a lot more room between the tire and sway bar than my 09 2wd big horn.
