I have a 2014 Sport CC with stock 20s". I want to put 17" for winter and found a great deal on Duratrac for the winter. I chose the 265/07R/17 but opted for the 121/118Q E
range as opposed to the 112/109Q C or 115SL. They were the same price and I figured that the E range might be better as I often pull a 7x14 enclosed trailer full of musical gear with quite a bit of tongue weight, and extra gear in truck bed.
Now I've been looking at rims but noticed that my E range tires have a 7-8.5" recommended "Rim Width Range" (RWR) vs the 7-9" on the SL. My choices for rims seem MUCH more limited in the 17x8 rims vs the 17x9. Tire Rack's site stipulates that they won't mount tires on rims that are outside the tires' RWR.
Has anyone here done it before? What's the worse that could happen if I mount my tires on 17x9?
I should only look at 17x8 rims, should't I?
