I like the Rigid industries hands down. Not cheap but for a one time no hassle no worries and nearly indestructible light they are well worth the money to me.

I have a set of D2's on both rams and a 10" combo light bar in addition on the 2010 hemi. I can see a swath about 500 feet wide as I have the D2's angled out just a bit and over a quarter mile out in front of me, the 10" light bar shine out about twice as far as the high beams.

Good discussion on lights. Nice to see that if you spend bigger money you get what you pay for. I have a question about switches. I'm adding 2 pair of lights and was wondering if anybody has used switches that look factory or just not cheap ? They are going in a 2012 Ram.
Thanks

I've only used KC but they are pricey, yet they are more than worth the price. I have friends with cheaper lights and my KC make them look like candles in the wind

Yeah, just give me 2 Driving and 2 Long Range KC's, and I'm more than happy. Like one forum member here said, those Rigid's are STUPIDLY over priced. Nice lights but I'm a baller on a budget.

If you compare the top 3 brands of highest quality LED lighting Rigid is the most reasonable.

ABL
Nordic
Rigid

I work at a coal mine and we are constantly trying different lights on heavy mine equipment and so far the Rigids are the only ones to hold up long term with not a single failure to date in over two years, that in itself is unheard of when it comes to lighting especially on Cat D10 and D11 tracked dozers where the high vibration kills lights in short time.

We have been running some Nordic and ABL lights the last few months but long term have yet to be determined but they are quite a bit higher in price than rigid lights.

One can't compare LED lights to Halogens as it is not a fair comparison for either, kind of like comparing an electric car to a diesel they should not be discussed in the same thread.

The fact that you get better light and high quality light output at an extremely low amp draw versus Halogens in itself is a huge factor.

Until you see the difference they make on top of a bed of coal in a pitch black pit you would never ever look at another halogen bulb again and then the different color of lights the LEDS come in now are making huge differences.

We have heaps of halogen and HID lights that nobody wants on their equipment anymore as the LED lights far outperform them hands down.

Then as a shop foreman I see the pay off as they pull less amperage so have less alternator and bad melted wiring from having high draws through bad grounds, blown fuses tripped breakers ect with halogens and the techs can be doing more important work rather than chasing burned out lights and wiring issues related to them.

Just to chime in again, the Rigids are expensive but even the small lights put out incredible amounts of light. You can get 2 D2s for $200 and trust me, it's more than enough light.

But, even if you don't want to spend Rigid money, there are other people putting out LEDs that are just as nice, but not as expensive. Check out Rough Country and Desert Rat, they both have options to fill any need from 4" lights up to 50" bars, and they're cheaper than Rigid.

In the end all I would recommend is LEDs, no matter what name brand you go with, because they're just superior in every way.

I need to do something about additional lighting on my truck too. Does anyone know if lights that are called driving lights are legal to use with low beam lights in traffic?

The Rigid's come in different patterns so yes you can get a street legal one. I got the 12" one with a combo pattern so it lights the side of the road and way out front but not quite as far as a spot would.

From what I've noticed, no matter what kind of additional lighting you go with as long as you aim it properly you shouldn't have an issue. I've got Rigids that are incredibly bright, but I aim them so they light up the road and not 1/4 mile ahead of me and I've never been stopped.
