I would be very displeased under those circumstances!

This is where government insurance really falls apart, when it gets between 2 governments and neither one will 'take on' the other. It is BS and you the insured victim is the one stuck holding the bag.

On the other side, I am familiar the the 'loss of use' insurance as I have that on all my vehicles that use in business and am less then impressed with how it works. When my truck was in the shop for 10 days getting repaired, they were only willing to cover 3 days 'loss of use' for the rental truck and 'they' had determined the repair could be done in 3 days. Technically they were correct. The repair could have been accomplished substandard in 3 days, but to have it done 100% correctly took 10 which IMO was very quick.

If the result of your loss is the fault of another motorist, then your 'loss of use' does not come from your policy, but rather is covered by their policy and you are no longer restricted to the $1000 max or their determination of how long the repair should take; you are covered from the time of loss until the repair is completed.

Bad part, if they find some stupid technicality that they determine part of your claim is not valid then they don't pay and/or you have to fight for payment which may include a court hearing. In the mean time, because you are the least likely to have the necessary funds (being an individual) to keep paying for what you should be entitled to, you end up between a rock and a hard place.

I wish you all the best and hope the other party gets his act together and does the right thing. If for no other reason he should try to help out the person that is put out because of his actions.

do you have "diminished value" up there. something to look into. this is the amt of money you loose if you try to sell or trade due to the vehicle being in a mva.

This is very good news! I hope the rest of this process is as good an painless as it can be and that you get your truck back in perfect condition as I did with mine.

Keep us posted.

You can go through your own insurance company first. Basically you have to pay your deductible and then your insurance company will deal with his company. Once they get the money they will return your deductible. It may be a chunk now but it beats paying the rental car!

A buddy of mine had the exact same type of accident (only it was his fault for turning left in front of the other vehicle on an icy day) with the same damage to his truck as yours, minus the bent frame, but his axle housing was bent and he had shock damage to the differential. when he finally got the truck back a month or so later, the fuel pump went the next day. that took another week to fix. they didn't want to order the part until they knew the insurance would cover the cost even though it would be covered by warranty otherwise. (work was done at a Ford dealership. 2010 f 150 ) Hope you have smooth sailing with your truck.
