Did you punch it while on the highway and it shift down to second prime? That's really the only way overdrive clutches get fried

I could see a lot of ppl as well as myself testing how the custom tune pulls from highway cruising speed , which is exactly how I fried my od clutches

AMEN to that Brother!

I bag the hell out my 10' every day, and at the track on weekends,
...going on 4 years now without issue, Diablo canned 93 tune, no trans tuning
But with a new Ripp (*cough 500whp) waiting to install It's going to get a Built Trans from MGH!

Quote:
From MGH:

"My built trans and tune is $2,500. You can still use your TC, but I would recommend an ATS triple clutch, Gabe and I both tune those and they are great. The reason that I recommend a triple clutch TC, is that I am working on a way to lock the TC in 2nd gear so that you get all the power down at the track.

I drive my truck like I stole it every day. hard launch from every stop light and I down shift manually and engine brake and I have not had a single trans problem.

Then you better save up for transfer swaps my friend, manually shift it out of overdrive before you punch it and you won't be in the situation you are in now, like I've told many ppl on here the 545rfe is not a bad trans other than the weak overdrive clutches. And if you think spending 3000 on a built trans, not gonna make much of a difference if y'all keep doing the same thing. I've seen multiple sharadon stage 3 transmissions be ran through from not manually shift out of OD. Sucks you dropped your trans, but I bet with that same tune and being a little more careful of not punching it out of OD and you would be a happy guy,

The stock OD clutch packs are garbage,
You cant even compare to what Mike is using to build his transmissions

Quote:
"I also machine parts to add clutches for more friction area. Stock 2C has 2 clutches and 2 steels, I install 4 clutches and 4 steels. Stock Overdrive has 5 double sided clutches and 4 steels, I install 14 single sided clutches. Stock Underdrive has 4 double sided clutches and 4 steels, I install 12 single sided clutches."

MGH is kicking down any time he wants with a 500HP/500ftlbs TQ Twin Turbo 4G Hemi. 11 second Beast he's been baggin on for over a year now and has several other builds under his belt with the same results.

Shoot him a PM and you will come away impressed.
