Had the plastic oem guards scuff my paint also. I put some clear stone guard under the flaps were they made contact with the fender and that solved the problem. What a pain in the a** though

thats just what i was thinking also. because i have already paid for them. I also like the mopar ones a lot more with the dodge logo an they look more sleek. but the weather techs dont cover the paint as much as the mopars which i dont like too much either lol. They both have their ups and downs! damn cant make up my mind!!

I got mine online at DuraFlap. they are a full size mud flap to protect both my truck and my trailer, but they are drill-less.

I like the Husky Liner molded mud flaps, no logos or anything on the flap and they even come with the clear tape to protect your paint. no drill either. and at $39.95 a set, the price is right.

3m clear tape is a must if your gonna use them Mopar mud flaps, I pulled mine off and replaced them with the weathertech, I have a full set of the mopar, slightly used, complete with screws and instructions for sale if anyone is interested.

what 3M do you suggest I buy just a small roll and cut a piece to fit perfectly under the guard?

The mud flaps tend to sand down the area that is just being touched by the side piece of the mud flap touching the cab. The mud flap extends on the outside of the cab for about I would say an inch, if not 1 1/4 in, If it was for me to do over, I would go to a local shop and buy a 1 x 1 ft sheet of 3m clear thick plastic and cut the area needed to be protected with maybe 3/16 extra larger than the mudflap extends, you might see it but at least the paint will be protected. Basically protect where the whole outside rim of the mud flap touches the cab. I pulled mine off and after only 3 months it had sanded down to the primer along the whole length of the mud flap. Luckily I had my fender flares come in and when I installed those it covered the area that was affected.
