Default So who HAS NOT put fender flares on after lift/tires??

So I just installed a Zone 6" lift and 35's on my 2012 1500. I love the look of the tires sticking out past the wheel wells. But damage to the lower body from stones kicked up has me concerned. For those who HAVE NOT installed fender flares, how has this scenario played out for your vehicle? I will intall fender flares before I'll install mudflaps. I'm seriously looking at the 3M Clear Bra Paint Protection Film installed on the lower fenders as a means of mitigating stone damage.

Do you have any photos of how far out they stick?

I have the same lift but I used my 20x8 factory wheels with 295/65R/20s Open Country and it keeps the tires inside the fenders just enough

My truck has OEM flares on it however my tires are still sticking out past them by 2". So far I haven't noticed any rock chips or damage from them. It's going to depend on the tire you go with as well. The lugs on my Toyo MT's are spaced so far apart that they don't really pick up any gravel/rocks on the road. Offroad is a different story. If you went with an AT tire or something with a closer thread pattern you'd probably have more of an issue.

I ran without flares for maybe a week or two after lift and tires, but you are just asking for more paint nicks and dings. My .02 says flares if your tires stick out at all.

Go with a 3m clear protector. Flares look good, but every flare I've ever ran caused more damage from rubbung over time. One of my trucks it literally rubbed the paint off. Just my opinion.

No flares for me, I like the clean lines around the wheel well and the tires sticking out a little. I do have mud flaps. I haven't had any damage to the paint either from rocks or debris thrown up

I wish I hadn't put flares on. I'm sure they've done too much damage to remove them now though.

I took my factory flares off after I did the lift, wheels and tires. No issues that I am going to worry about.

By the way. In the time I had my 2012 1500 running 37x13.50 on 20x10 I never once had issues.

Now I'm about to run 40x15.50 on 22x14 with no flares.
