Just use this filter until it gets close to cleaning. Then, buy the dry one. It's nice to have 2 while one is being cleaned. If you wash the dry filter, you might want to let it set for a day before using it. I also do not like oiled gauze filters after switching to dry about 4 years ago. However, I've never had an issue with an oiled gauze filter, and I've been using them since '95. I mostly had Fords with MAFs, and still no issues. They are a PITA though.
PJ1 foam filter cleaner( Buy it at Motor Cycle Sales and Service centers) It is the best & easiest cleaner I have used for oiled filters. Cleans to like new condition with little to no elbow grease and dries fast. I am not 100% sure if it is safe to use on cotton based airfilters, but if it does not hurt foam filters I think it wouold be just fine.
