Default will not idle

I just got my 97 Ram 2 days ago and its been running fine. I put a new battery in it today , and now it will not idle. It starts right up if i give it gas but as soon as I take my foot off gas it dies. HELP

This is normal after a battery disconnect. The PCM has lost the idle strategy and you will need to keep it running until it can relearn it. This process usually takes 3-5 minutes.

This happens to me too. But I also have a high pitched whining noise when I hit the gas sometimes. Someone also said my truck might have a low idle. I didn't touch the battery within about a week when it would die. I installed underbody LEDS a week before and a new stereo a month before. But the noise with the gas has always been there since we got it. And when it's on and parked it has a slightly different noise too, still high pitched whiny. Someone said it might be a fan or something? Someone else mentioned it could be a bad fuel pump too.
