Default Blown Head Gasket or Worse?

I am looking for a way forward from anyone who can help. I have a 2002 Ram 1500 with a 4.7 V8. I have been loosing coolant lately.... not a lot but enough. Still the truck was running great. Last several weeks a P1294 code has begun to show up. A few days after that I noticed coolant and emulsified oil in the vacuum lines and the air inlet box and evidence of the same in the throttle body. Last night the truck overheated and stalled. I got it cooled down and milked it home.. well almost... about a mile to go it had enough and I had to call AAA.

So Im about to start troubleshooting a blown head gasket but is there anything else it can be? Can the coolant be coming from anywhere else? like the heater box/core?

thanks in advance

I would think that if you heated it enough that it stalled out, then it may be that the heads are in some danger of being warped. I overheated mine once but I got lucky. I think its just a matter of time though. There are guys on this board much more knowledgeable than I am, but from what I have learned about my own 4.7L is that the aluminum heads are likely to be damaged when they get overheated. When mine do finally go, I plan on replacing with iron.

Wish I had more to help you out, but I'm sure someone will be along soon who can talk more technical about this than I can.

Good Luck with it.
