The MagnaFlow muffler is shorter than the stock one so pipe has to be added someplace to make up for the length difference. By moving the muffler back you cut a very small amount of heat from the cats to the muffler. The muffler is stainless steel so heat won't hurt it. As I remember the two pipes needed a slight bend to fit. My tailpipe was Mandel bent so the installer wanted to leave it alone. Because a 3" mandel bend tailpipe will flow more exhaust cleaner than a 3.5" maybe even a 4" pipe bent on a plain tubing bender.
See people miss that kind of stuff. The manufactures spend millions on R&D figuring out the little things like that. Then guys think they know better & start changing stuff & wonder why things are not better.
But no matter what you do the V-10 kind of sound like the old split manifolds that guys used on the 50s Chevy I-6s. I just wanted better flowing exhaust & wasn't after noise, just a mellow tone.
Did it make much difference I think it gave me a little more power (maybe) gas mileage if it improved it was in thousands not mpg or even a few tens.

I go along with the no to glass packs. I have straight pipes with glass packs (it's temporary) and it sounds like crap and is so loud my neighbors know what time I get home even when I idle to my house.
I'm thinking of going true dual with Flow Master part #524704 from their website. I can't remember the diameter just now but check it out.

I talked to a Performance Muffler shop before I had mine done. The owner was an old school racer & mechanic. We talked & I told him what I was doing & my thoughts. He told me that I could spend a lot of money or spend some. He felt that doing what we did was as good as anything. Spending more for duals etc wasn't going to net me anything in the long run. Not with a stock V-10. If I planned to built it then maybe. But if I want a Special Edition V-10 Dodge it would be a 1/2 tom 2wd. Sure won't be towing only hauling a$$ on the 1/4 track.

Default exhaust

Been looking hard for the same answers.. Going with shorty headers with inch flanges so leaking will be reduced, copper header gaskets from summit, mandrel bent exhaust for true dauls, and leaning toward gibson preformace mufflers. This is what I came up with...Hope it helps!

So your going to spend over $1000 on exhaust? How will that pay for itself? Just curious.

I aint looking to spend that much on an exhaust system gibson is out of my price range flowmaster and dynomax mufflers sound on v10s and magnaflow but I thought about doing a cherry bomb extreme muffler on it loud and gives it a good grow

I hate glass paks. They burn out quick & they are too damn noisy for me. I think they sound cheap. But each to their own. The MagnaFlow Muffler cost me a think $200 that was with the tip. That was having it done by a shop.
