Default Muffler or catback/cold air or drop in?

Hello all,

I'm about to make some breathing upgrades to the HEMI and need to know if there is any advantage to going full catback with the exhaust or will a muffler and Y-pipe get the job done? I'm looking for sounds and performance so I plan on going magnaflow 18" with the stock exit location. I live in the south so corrosion isn't as big a concern as it is in the snowbelt. I'm also looking to upgrade my intake and have basically the same question regarding a k and n drop-in versus a full cold air setup. What are the differences in gains? Im on my way to work so i may not be able to reply until morning. Thanks for your help.

changing the Y and muffler is all you really need to do...and I would look into a true cai vs a drop in...I've been there..

Thanks chef, I'll take any knowledge I can get from someone running 12's with their truck! Any recommendations on the cold air? I work in the gulf so when I get home I'll have 2 weeks to do nothing but tinker. I'm also looking into a diablo tuner but I'm unsure if the gains would be worth the money. Whats your experience on that?

thanks man...it was a long hard road for me to be able to say my truck runs 12's..cool thing is, bottom end is still original stock (block, pistons and crank) with over 232k miles on it... tuners, the proven ones like superchips and diablo do make a difference. It's not so much by themselves but with the addition of other mods like cai and exhaust, it gets the most out of them...I've run both and I have no bad things to say about either, the advantage of the diablo is custom tuning if you so desire. As for cai, I'd get a Bfi/ramhammer if you can find one (not made anymore..at least for now ), the Vararam is right up there as well. Volant and S&B is pretty good as well.
