Default Good Year tires

Hello everyone:

What sort of mileage life is everyone getting out of the crappy Good Year tires that come on our trucks?

I've got an '10 CC Sport with just short of 22K on it, and yesterday I was noticing a significant amount of hydroplaning and/or ABS kicking in while stopping.

Granted we have gotten a hell of a lot of rain in the past couple of days, and there is lots of ponding water, but this is the first time I've ever experienced this situation.

When I do a visual inspection the tires look ok as far as tread left, there is some obvious wear, but not enough to cause hydroplaning and stopping issues.

Could my problem just be lots of water on the road, and NOT the tires completely worn out already?

Just curious what everyone else is experiencing

These tires are NOT good in the rain, but I have 60k on the original tires and have probably 10-15 k left, safely. 90% highway driving, 40psi, and rotating the tires every oil change.

Mine seem to loose there handling characteristics very quickly, I replaced them at 21000 miles. I installed off road tires and they handle better than the good for a years tires!

Over 47K on my stock tires. Regular rotations and tread wise, they still look good. No, they aren't the greatest in the rain but I've learned to live with it lol.

They are junk! Some of the worst wet weather tires I have ever had. If you get 45k to 50k out of them your lucky, even rotating them every 5k and watching the tire pressure. Get a good set of tires and sell your GY to someone else that thinks they look neat.

I have contemplated replacing the tires with something decent, I just don't want to put forth the cash to do so at this point...

Let's face it, decent tires for our rigs are ~$200 each IF you're lucky, most likely they'll be more than that.

I'll just live with the crappy wet weather traction for now, and then see what happens in another few thousand miles, or if I can finally justify those new rims to myself

thanks for the responses everyone.

I sold my stock tires when new and upgraded immediately. This was a something I knew I had to do even before buying the truck.

I found out early on with my previous Ram that the stock tires are not very good.

First heavy rain storm I ran into, I learned quickly these tires have almost zero grip in the wet. I could fishtail the truck at will running 45mph by just feathering the throttle with the ESC on. I know trucks are light in the rear and we have plenty of torque on tap, but these tires are unsafe in the wet stuff.

I went to my dealership's lot & looked at what is on the new Rams, of all the 2013 Rams on the lot ONLY 5 had GoodYear tires, Silent Armour, Eagles, & 2 Wranglers.
The rest had Michelin & Firestone tires

Wrangler tires are used to keep the trucks price down, $115 per tire retail price
