Default 2/4 drop for free!

So, I got bored the other day. Since I planned on doing a drop anyway, I figured "why not cut the springs just to see how it would turn out"? I know, I know, I'm one of the guys screaming "don't cut your rear springs!", but I figured it would just be temporary, and I will be putting limiting straps on if I leave it this way! It actually turned out pretty decent and rides fairly well. The ride is alot firmer, but not unbearable. I cut 1 coil off the fronts and 2 1/2 coils off the rear (the rears will fall out w/ suspension completely unloaded!) which gave me a touch more than 2/4. If I leave it this way I'll just fab my own endlinks and panhard bracket (or buy the BT bracket that is supposed to be released soon). Still think I might get a drop kit, but for now it works.

that looks awesome! I love doing stuff myself. Most of my truck I have done myself. At one point I had my 07 lowered 3/6 and only spent $160 on the whole thing.

Thanks for the compliments! I don't necessarily recommend doing it this way, but if you are on a tight budget it will suffice. I strongly recommend limiting the downward travel of the rear axle (limiting straps, shorter shocks) to anyone using this method.

Looks great. I have cut several sets of springs with no issues on S10's and full size trucks of the other brand. I would look into shock mount extenders for the rear. This should be an inexpensive way to keep the springs in and make the ride better.

Actually, the shocks have a few inches of compression beyond the static drop point. The Mcgaughys 2/4 spring drop actually utilizes the OE shocks. If I did anything, I would get new shocks. Thanks for the compliment!

Thanks! It rides pretty good, a little firmer but not harsh. Handles alot better through the turns! I modified the bumpstops, but I still need to address the swaybar links, gonna get shorter ones for the front and fab some adjustable ones for the rear!
