Default Alpine Head Unit IVE-W530 does not fit 2012 Ram 1500

As per title, the IVE-W530 does NOT fit in place of the stock radio. The tight dimensions of the stock radio are as follows:

Width 7 3/16 inches
Height 3 1/2 inches
Depth 5 3/4 inches

I recently installed an Alpine IVE-W535HD in my 2012 Quad Cab. I did have to do some trimming, like others have had to do when installing aftermarket double din units, but it does fit.

I have done several alpine double dins in new rams at the shop. You need to trim a little out in the dash

Well that sucks. I had the stock radio out. Do you only have to trim the plastic or do you also have to trim the metal rectangle behind the plastic as well.

double din bezels for newer Rams 2009 & newer

I believe there is a area behind the bezel that also needs some trimming, using a dremel or even a straight blade saw

I had to trim a bit of the plastic and then also the top part of the metal. I used a small hack saw to cut the metal, it is pretty thin and was easy to cut, just not a lot of room.
