Default 46re

Hi, New to this forum stuff. But I need some help with my 02 1500 RAM 5.9 SLT.The other day with no warning she lost reverse, pulled the trans pan and the rev servo piston looks cracked.I took the valve body out thinking that after backing the band adjuster off I could take the strut out ,but it doesnt look like the strut will come out unless I remove the pin going though the adjuster and strut. Is the strut one part on the newer 46re.Really hate to pull trans apart just for a servo. Thanks for any help.

Default 46re servo

Ok, I ended-up pulling the overdrive so I could get the adjuter pin out and replace the rev/first servo. When I pulled the overdrive peices of snapring fell out,the one that holds the overdive clutchs in.Went to local trans shop and got the parts. The guy said the snapring was a common problem for Dodge and the servo breaks because the rev/first band was was out of adjustment. She is shifting fine now. But now the speedometer is not working .Codereader came up with no signal from vehicle speed sensor ,replaced sensor still no speedo.Getting 2.5 volts at sensor plug . Anybody got any ideas.

Default 46re servo

Turns out the abs speed sensor on diff. and the speed sensor on overdrive use same ground wire.Check the abs sensor just to elimnate it as problem and the top of sensor had came off halfway, pushed it back on and speedo started working.Engine light went and problem solved.

This could work. You have a problem. You solve the problem. You post the solution. I like that!
