Default Need help with Bank 2 issues.

Hey guys, I'm new to the forum. Firstly I have an issue...

I'm a tech in Southern Alberta. We recieved a 2002 1500 with the 4.7, engine was dusted and so we replaced it. New plugs, 02 sensors. Initial start up was great, she ran fine, I went in and reset the fuel trims, and upon monitoring sensor values, found that both pre and post cat sensors on bank 2 were pegged and staying at 4.98V. I went looking on Mitchells for a wiring diagram so try to go ahead and do pin outs on the PCM harness, but could not find any accurate diagrams (can only get California schematics for some reason). I need federal based diagrams but the dodge dealerships were very unhelpful in this. I suspect the heater circuit has shorted to the signal line, but I've no idea which pins are for what 02 sensors on the PCM connector side in order to verify. Any help??

Secondly, Hello all!
Cheers, Cas

I may be wrong here but I think that the 2002 models with four O2 sensors are California emission models which would make your Mitchell diagrams correct. Worst case scenerio, I can pull the build sheet from the VIN number and verify if it has the Cali emissions and we can go from there.

What I've found in comparing out mitchells diagrams to the actual connectors, is that Pins 26 and 29 are designated for the right bank pre and post cat sensor sigs (on a California model), however those pins are blank in the connector, which leads me to believe that this particular truck is of Federal spec, not California. But maybe you have a better Data program that could help us out, because Mitchells hasn't proven helpful in this case. Vin : 1D7HU16N72J248152.
Appreciated!

I'm a Chrysler tech at a dealership, so I have factory info. I pulled the build sheet and the truck does indeed have federal emissions. I'm seeing the same problem with the factory info that you are: no info whatsoever on the bank 2 sensors except the Cali emissions, which from what you're telling me doesn't jibe with the pins in the connector. I just double checked the PCM pinout diagram and got the same info as what's on the diagram. I checked the ALLDATA diagrams with the same result. So we have a federal emission vehicle with 4 sensors when every bit of info (factory and aftermarket) I have access to says it should only have two. Perhaps this has something to do with it being a Canadian model. Let me ask a stupid question - all 4 sensors are plugged into the PCM harness, right?

Yes they are all plugged in. It jsut doesnt make sense why both bank 2 sensors read 4.98V at all times, and will not go into closed loop, while bank 1 values act the way they are supposed to.

A short to the 5V reference sure seems like the problem. The only thing I can think of to try is checking every wire in the PCM C1 and C3 connectors against the pinout diagrams to locate the wires for the B2 sensors and then go from there.
