Chances are it is for the auto dimming feature

I have been wondering that myself. I do not think it is for the auto dimming because if I take a flashlight and point it at the mirror side of the mirror, the mirror dims, how can the sensor on the other side sense that I shined a light on the mirror?

BTW, I do not think it is a dumb question.

I thought it was for the auto dim also, but that sensor is on the other side of the mirror facing the driver. I'm dumb founded.

I know that there is a sensor on the mirror side, it is to the right of the on off button. The left is the light to tell if it is on or off.

I believe it could be for the universal garage door opener?
