i have a 1995 ram 2500 with the 5.9 v8. Well the motor needs replaced.
What year motors are interchangeable or would work for my truck? i no its from 94-02 is the body style. Im asking because ive heard that the 95 motors where different and thats the one that had to be used.

Any year 5.9 will work, from 1993 up. The differences that matter are in the electronics (connectors changed a couple times, but say you got a 2001 model, all the older stuff will swap out. Also remember that thru the 1995 model year they had EGR so you'll need to use your intake manifold and exhaust. Don't forget to replace your intake manifold plenum gasket.

From 94 to 97, the Ram's used the same style sensor connectors. However, one thing that people miss is the 2 temp sensors on the intake (1 and 2 wires). You can clearly see it right behind the alternator and the coolant neck. If the intake is equipped with only one port for one temp sensor, you need to swap out the intake manifold. Early Ram's had it(94-97), later Ram's didn't (98-02). If you want to use a motor from between 98 to 02, all the sensors have to be swapped out to the earlier style sensors. I'm sure your truck is equipped with 2 temp sensors.
