Default Engine Block Heater

OK, maybe a dumb question IDK, but where is the cord for my engine block heater? I cannot locate it anywhere. My 04 Diesel was on the driver side right inside the grille. Book says it should be on the right side behind the headlight, but all I see is the air filter box. Now I am assuming that I have a heater becasue it is diesel, is it standard on the Diesel trucks still? It was on my 04, and I guess i just am assuming I should have one as well. Mine is a 2012 Big Horn. Any assistance please. thanks

If I'm not mistaken, the heater is installed in the block but the cord has to be purchased seperately and installed.

If you had the package installed from the factory the plug will be above the passenger tow hook. Its hard to miss. I know what the book says but that is where it was on my 2012 2500.

I'll look again. It was not noted on my window sticker as an option, but I didn't know if they came standard on the diesel engines, my 04 diesel had it standard so I assumed I had it on this truck as well..maybe I don't.

It is not standard on the US market. Canada it is included in the cold weather package. In the northern states the dealers are meant to install it.
It should be on the passenger side, some are seen by the tow hook, i have found others taped up behind the bumper. Scoot underneath and shoudl see it, runs along the frame at the front on most.

If its there you'd know. It's on the bumper right at the top of the tow hook.

a Dodge Tech said this about the 2011 2500 Ram
This block here's a loaded in the right rear or plug of the block and the electrical cable follows up the right hand side of the engine compartment and exits behind the hood on the right side of the inter cooler

also look behind the battery

On 3rd Gens it is an option. It was not on my 05. I'm in Kentucky and the truck was in the garage most nights so my Tech buddy told me not to plug it in unless it sat outside for several days below freezing which it didn't so I never got it. I think it was like 25 bucks for the Pig Tail.

I'm sure in NY you need it.

I'm starting to think mine either doesn't have the cord , heater, or both. I think I'll just stop back at the dealer and fine out. It is not listed in my sticker that I have the engine block heater, but then again, it doesn't list remote start and I have that..
