Default Brake upgrade??

All this talk of lifting trucks and bigger wheel/tire combos has me thinking about upgrading the stock brake system. I have a 2006 1500 4x4 SLT. Anyone have any suggestions or set ups they could recommend for upgraded brakes? I wanna keep the factory rotor size so as to fit under a 17'' or 18'' wheel but the calipers, rotors, and pads I am looking to upgrade. Thanks for the help guys!

I was very happy with the EBC sports rotors and greenstuff pads on the rear with greenstuff supremes on the front. I was running higher hp and a heavy set of 22s so stopping that rotating mass was a tall order on stock diameter rotors. Everything cost about $600 shipped from auto anything.

Don't forget to add a set of braided steel lines to improve pedal feel and put a little more pressure to the calipers.

Thanks CdnoilRAM and Ramtech for the suggestions. My truck spent the first part of its life and the factory stuff is all ate up now. Def gonna need an upgrade when the lift and tires go on.

So I purchased a powerstop kit for front and rear including rotors and pads. I went to install the front rotors and pads today and couldn't get the caliper to fit back over the new parts. I'm almost positive that the caliper pistons were pushed back as far as they could go but still it wouldn't fit. It's about 5mm off. Any insight?? Thanks guys.

Just to be the guy to ask the stupid questions first: you have the correct part numbers for your truck? You squeezed the old pads right against the inside of the caliper then replaced with new pads? If you're having trouble compressing the pistons you can pop the reservoir cap.

Just an update, I had the front wheels off today to replace the rusted/broken wheel studs (a separate issue) and I decided to give it another go with the brakes. I pushed the pistons all the way back into the calipers and everything fit perfectly. I only got the front brakes installed today as it was starting to snow and the sun was setting but so far I am pleased with how well they seem to be stopping. I did the break in for the pads and rotors and everything looks good so far. It is supposed to rain/snow in the new few days so we will see how they fair in the wet weather. Thanks again for the help.

With my BDS lift I received SS extended brake lines. I never considered what RamTech suggests above as a possible reasoning for these new lines, beyond the obvious extension. Hmmmm.
