Generally towing a 5th wheel with a half ton is not a good idea and without knowing the gross vehicle weight rating (GVWR)of the trailer (do not confuse with dry weight) it is impossible to know for sure. There are small 5th wheels, so it may be possible. The problem with 5th wheels and towing with a half ton, is the pin weight of 5th wheels is approximately 20% of the GVWR which can easily exceed the capacity of a half ton.

I'm sure some people do but I wouldn't even consider it.

I don't think a fifth wheel is a good idea with a 1/2 tonne pickup. It's not pulling the weight of the trailer it's the payload capacity of the truck. Even the light ones push the payload capacity of a 1/2 tonne.

Once you add supplies in the trailer, gas in the truck and passengers it will almost certainly be over. You also need to add the weight of the hitch; since you have a CC you'll need a sliding hitch and that adds to the weight as well.

Bad idea. The whole idea of getting a nice 5th wheel is too get a nice BIG one. Get a pull behind travel trailer and you and your truck will be much happier. I've read guys that have done the 1/2 ton 5th wheel route and moved up the a 3/4 or 1 ton. They said they would never do that again ( use a 1/2 ton for a 5th wheel).

I wouldn't use a 5th wheel on a 1500

i can see it now, going to the dealership with broken parts, 5th wheel setup in the bed
they would say, WHAT WARRANTY, are you kidding ?

Have you seen this 5th-wheel thread?
