A small jack is probably too short to lift the truck. May be able to put some wood under a jack though, or get a larger jack.

As far as warranty and regular maintenance such as oil changes, keep your receipts and keep a log with date, mileage, etc.

Yeah, you want a good floor jack, expect to spend $200 to $300, and a good set of jack stands.

You can do your own maintance and as long as you keep a record, they can't deny warranty.

went to local auto place today and bought a 3 1/2 ton jack (Dodge says my truck is 3.3 tons), and jack stands. while in there i took a look at the price of oil. To my suprise, it was $36 for 5 quarts of 5w-20 (cheapest they had), and i need 7 quarts for my engine! I figure the filter is $10-15 bucks, so were up to about $50 plus. Am i getting robbed? I was hoping to save a few bucks from the elbow grease i lent to the project, but it's looks like i'll be in the hole for about $15 more than what i costs me at the place that does it for me. Are there wholesalers you can buy from to cut down on the cost of the oil? What brand of oil and oil filter do you all use?

FYI the 4th gen ram 1500's are ~5000 lb for a single cab. Not sure what you have but doubt it's 3.3 tons.

Also you can buy decent synthetic oil for ~$5/qt and a filter for $5-$10.

You can get an oil change cheaper elsewhere, but it takes longer, is cheap oil, and the ding in the hood/door comes free...
