just a little update. Think my vacuum leak is behind my dash. Heard something strange like a high pitch sucking noise a couple of times when letting off the gas and it sounds like its behind the dash. anyone got a vacuum diagram for behind the dash or under it? or maybe any ideas what line could be leaking?

I had almost the same problem with my 2000 Ram 1500 w/5.2 X 2WD....
usually after warm up it would stall at idle and immediately after shifting
into reverse......keep the idle up over 700 and no problem......I spent a lot of time doing what everyone said to do above but finally found it was the crankshaft sensor.....$50 part but a pain to install.....trucks running great.

think thats my next part to replace. since fixxing the vacuum leak or bypassing it for a while. the truck started another problem of not being able stay running on first start up after sitting for a while unless i keep my foot on the gas.

What's the latest update on fixing the problem? Did the crankshaft sensor replacement work? Did you find anything else that might have been the problem?

Crank sensor and coil did not solve problem. Now its a cold weather problem at least so far. replaced throttle position sensor. guess we will see what happens.........

new problem has now come up. While at highway speeds the truck Jerks only once like hitting a speedbump at 65 mph. Then its good after that. it does it at random too, some days it wont do it and others it will. and no check engine light to be seen.

Well a little update. Replaced IAC, Crank position sensor, coil, ignition pickup, tps, and cleaned the throttle body, and the truck still does a big jerk like I hit something, just once or twice then it's good. Now when I start it it dies and I have to keep my foot on the gas to keep it running. Once it worms up it's ok, kinda. At idle it jumps about 200-300 rims and the lights flicker any ideas?

Update: now the truck dies after it idles up every morning and dies unless I keep my foot on the gas when braking until it warms up. Think this thing is going down hill fast
