Default Engine temps too cold? No heat?

I have a '94 V10. It is the HD version with tow package and I have the original order sheet from the factory. It says "max engine cooling". It is cold in upstate NY and I am not getting cab heat. I can warm the truck up for 15 minutes then drive 20 miles and the temp gauge won't go above 130 degrees. I can get a little warm air, but if I put the blower above the second speed; the air is cold. Should my engine get hotter than 130 degrees? I can't remember exactly, but I think the engine ran warmer in the summer. I have read plenty of posts about heating and will check the hoses going to the core tomorrow and come back to see if anyone here has any ideas here for me. Thanks...

Hey bud you should check your heater core and see if its time to replace it sometimes those things do go out and they can cause your truck to smell like colant too but 'm just throwing ths idea at you man cause I had a 94 ford ranger and it did that to me three times with in about two months

A faulty heater core doesn't explain the failure of the engine to reach normal operating temp along with a lack of cabin heat, however, a missing, broken, or stuck open thermostat does.

Well Yeah true but you also have to think about it though he said it it would blow warm air to an extinct so it could be a mixture of both I think your right and I'm wrong now that you have said that but no bodies perfect you know so I am just a soldier in the army I dont know everything lol

Lol well I run misery like i nothing til i get almost up to the top lol agony I havnt tried but they did shut heart break down here a while back doin road construction on it keeps breaking trucks blowing head gaskets going up it loaded

No smell of coolant anywhere. Plus the coolant is clean and clear. I have been researching here and other Ram sites and think my thermostat might be faulty. The manual says 195-199 degrees and I am not getting there at all. If I use the OD lockout and just run in 3rd gear; I can see the gauge go up but only very little, never above the 130 line. Then it cools super quick. Something I am attributing to the HD cooling system the truck had installed. Still waiting to check the hoses to make sure the return from the heater core is hot or warm...thanks y'all...

Well, I had it running for a while. The gauge was resting under 130 and now it is just on the 130 line. I have warm air, but I can also squeeze the upper radiator hose. That should indicate my thermostat is open at 130 degrees. That ain't good. Must be the T-stat...I'll post results for posterity.

ya just sounds stuck open man, my buddy had a mud truck with the v10 and we took out the thermostat to keep the pig cool and it sat around 130. just put a new one in and ur golden. its been colder than a witches titty here so ive been rocking a piece of cardboard infront of the radiator for quicker warm up times.
