Default 6" lift and 35 now fuel consumption is bad

Hey guys
I recently installed a fabtech 6" lift on my 2010 1500
At the same time I installed 35" tires

Now my fuel economy is garbage.
I was averaging 18litres/100km
I am now at 21.5l/100.
That's a huge difference. What gives?

Welcome to my world! I put on a 6" RCX lift and 37" tires. My mileage was horrible. However, I did expect this. I didn't buy a truck with high expectations on gas mileage.

I bought a Diablo Sport Trinity 1000 tuner and it helped tremendously! My mileage is back to where it was. I would recommend getting a tuner.... It's the price we pay for mods!

The 35's are definately going to take more power to turn over, so a loss of economy is to be expected. Have you had the correct tire size programmed into the truck? If not all your calculations will be off.

Thats exactly what I was thinking. I would guess that your info is about 7% off.

I haven't re calibrated yet. Ill get that done and see what it comes up with.

Regarding the tuner, how much better is the economy since you did it, compared to no tuner.

Before I installed the canned 87 octane tune, I was getting 11-12mpg at 70mph. On the same stretch of interstate after the tune, I was getting 15-16. At 60mph before was 12-13mpg, after was 17-18mpg.

Everyone you talk to seems to get different results. There are many factors that change the numbers other than truck components like terrain, weather, driving habbits, seasonal gas blends, etc.

Even external bolt-on accessories that induce aerodynamic drag can increase fuel consumption.

taller= more wind resistance
bigger tires= more weight= more rolling mass to move
all these will suck your MPGs!

Recalibrating will make your numbers worse since right now you're tires are bigger than stock so since it takes longer to make 1 revolution to compute the speed/distance its why you're reading you're probably going 3-5 mph slower than actual...the good part is you'll show fewer miles on the truck at trade in

How do you get your truck reprogrammed for tire size? And with the stock tires measuring 33" (275/60/r20) on heavy stock 20's I figured running 35's with some aluminum 18's wouldn't make too much of a difference in weight, and therefore fuel economy. Am I wrong in thinking this?

recalibrating doesnt make your numbers worse at all.

i had a 6'' and 35s and i avg around 18-21 now with 10'' and 37s im at 21-23 stock i was 12-15.. all in L/100
