Default Amsoil vs. Mobile 1

OK, i looked for a thread about this, and couldnt find one, so Ill start it here. Amsoil or Mobile 1. I have talked to so may mechanics, , and they are all about 50-50. In my 2004 CTD, i had Amsoild for everything, I know its good stuff, and I love their products.
Even as a preferred customer, and buying the stuff at dealer cost, the shipping was outragous. So, a few years back, I switched to Mobil 1, can buy it at wal mart, and was about $10 cheaper a gallon. Mobil 1 is good stuff too.

Well, im back to a Diesel trcuk again, never used Modile 1 for a diesel , just gas.
So, i guess I am looking for some more opinions beofre I decide which way to go. That goes for Oil Filters too. I used to use the Donaldson Endurance filters, were greatm got them right from Amsoil, now I cant find them. I now amsoil has their own line now, and they look great. There are alwasy the WIX filters too.
pass on the info, I need more reasearch

Bottom line, I doubt your truck will know the difference. Both are excellent products. Use whatever makes you warm and fuzzy or is most practical to you.

The 2013 CTD's are coming factory filled with Mobil 5W-40 synthetic. Enough said, IMO.

You can't go wrong either way. I wouldnt reccommend anyone use anything other than one of those two.

Ramtech,
Is the drain integral still going to be 8000 miles?
What about filters, and what do you use?

I use Mobil 1 synthetic because of the lower cost and better availability. The interval depends on the fuel used. Biodiesel requires a 12,500 mile interval but ULSD intervals are 15,000 miles.

I agree it is easier to get..and I use the ULSD so I'll go the 15k, will my indicator still come on at 8k and tell me I need an oil change, or is it duty based? Should i just change it when it comes on? What do you use for oil filters? I have been using WIX in my HEMI vehicles for years, and my boat, lawn trackr, etc. should I stick with that with the diesel and are they still good for a 15k drain interval?

Let me rephrase that - synthetic oil is a fact. The Mobil part was mentioned at the training center, but I can't actually swear that it's the gospel truth.

For 2012 diesels the interval is stil 7500 miles. The following is straight from Chryslers service info.

When prompted by the Engine Oil Indicator System, the engine oil and filter must be changed. If not prompted by the Engine Oil Indicator System within 7,500 miles (12 000 km) or six months since the last oil and filter change, replace the engine oil and engine oil filter. Under no circumstances should oil change intervals exceed 7,500 miles (12 000 km) or six months, whichever comes first.
