Default V6 on a Big Horn?

I have been doing a lot of research on the 2013 Ram 1500 and after watching this video
I am now thoroughly confused. Is it just me or does Ram deliberately put out misinformation?

I was told by a dealer the V6 was only available in a crew cab on the SLT. Now I have discovered the V6 is an option on the Outdoorsman but not the Big Horn. I like the look of the Big Horn but don't need a Hemi. Anyways, after watching the attached video where a Ram representative (engineer) shows a Big Horn / Lone Star with a V6, I'm wondering what gives.

Another challenge is trying to figure out what model is going to have the rear fold flat load floor in a crew cab. I have been told by a Chrysler rep this will be a $100 option on the Big Horn model but won't be available until April. I went into my local dealer and built a V6 Outdoorsman and low and behold one of the options for $100 was the fold flat load floor. At this point I think they just make it up as they go, but I am new to the culture of Ram and maybe this is just the norm.

UPDATE: If you are one of the few (like me) who want the option of having the Pentastar V6 on a Big Horn, just do the following.

You will probably have to order it since most will opt for the Hemi on the Big Horn. Have your dealer build an SLT with the V6. Then add the Big Horn equipment group as a $1,300 option. This package includes everything the Hemi Big Horn package does with the exception of the dual exhaust (since the V6 doesn't have a dual exhaust).

This is a new option so just make sure your dealer knows this. They are use to selecting the Big Horn package at the first step of the build process in Dealer Connect (which is still the case with the Hemi Big Horn).

You are correct. They don't know what they are doing...
This is a reply the letter I just got from Chrysler:
Dear David:

It is great to read of your interest in the 2013 Ram 1500!

The 6' 4"bed option is slated to be available on the 2013 Ram 1500 Crew
Cab models. At the present time, however, no information has been
provided regarding when this combination with be available within the
factory order system.

The 3.6L Pentastar V6 Engine with the 8-Speed Automatic Transmission was
introduced on the Tradesman and the SLT models. As of the month of
November, the 3.6L Pentastar V6 Engine and the 8-Speed Automatic
Transmission powertrain configuration was in restrictions for ordering
on the 2013 Ram 1500 4x4 models. This restriction was recently lifted in
January. The 2013 Ram 1500 Crew Cab 4x4 Laramie and Laramie Longhorn
models are available for factory order with the 4-Corner Air Suspension,
however, are standard equipped with the 5.7L V8 Hemi Engine combined
with the 8-speed Automatic Transmission only.

Chrysler Group LLC strives to meet the needs of every customer in order
to provide an exceptional customer experience and we are sorry if our
factory specifications and available options do not completely satisfy
your needs.

We greatly appreciate your comments and we have taken the liberty of
logging your feedback. Comments like yours are just one way Chrysler
Group LLC learns of improvements desired by consumers. With the way
marketing trends consistently change, we?re confident there will be new
products on the horizon specifically suited to your needs.

Our best suggestion would be for you to work with your preferred Ram
dealership in order to discuss the model within the 2013 Ram 1500 lineup
that would suit your needs. Your preferred Ram dealership will be first
informed regarding when they will be able to place a factory order for a
2013 Ram 1500 Crew Cab with the 6'4" bed on your behalf or for the
anticipated arrival of a 2013 Ram 1500 that meets your requirements.

Check to see if your dealership has a Fleet/Internet Dept & call them to ask questions
they will also give you the best no haggling price

Also most dealerships now have the RAM Brochures in stock
it may not be the most current brochure, but it has phone numbers & website to get more current info

the letter about looks like a form letter that they send everyone, when they don't want to bother checking it out

here is the brochure online, Buyers Guide is near the end

Your welcome. One annoying restriction Ram has placed on the V6 Bighorn is a mandatory downgrade to the 17 inch chrome clad wheels. It's a $500 credit but I wanted the 20 inch Big Horn wheels, so I didn't order the truck. I complained to the regional Ram rep with no response. Ram, and probably Chrysler as a whole, do some strange things. There was really no justification for making you downgrade the wheels. IMO they want to steer you towards the more expensive trim levels where their profit levels are higher.

I was in the same situation when I was considering the 3.6.
Finally made the decison to go with the Laramie Hemi 8 Spd.
As it turning out the the mpg difference is not too much. One has to rememeber that the 25 highway # if for the HFE model.

The combined mpg for the hemi 8spd is 17 based on the window sticker posted on the forum.

BTW Ford's packaging is even worse. One of the reasons I bought the ram.
