Default Uconnect taking a step backwards in 2013

Anyone else feel the Mygig in the 09-11 models being a more user friendly and capable unit ?
YEs I love the new larger screen and the Nav maps are better but CD player being an option ? Weird. It makes sense for the tech crowd but alot of people still aren't into Ipods
Also maybe I am wrong but I have tried everything, why would they take away the ability to store music on the headunit ? Pain in the ass if you ask me

I have the Uconnect 8.4AN

Thoughts ?

Am looking at getting a Ram 1500. My wife has a 2010 Ford with (sync) and it has a juke box feature where we can record tons of music for play back any time. Are you saying Ram can't do that???

My 2011 Had a ton of storage, unless I am doing something wrong I don't think the new 8.4 screen UConnect has a Harddrive.
I hope I am doing something wrong

Uconnect does not have any onboard storage memory. you add your own storage via a SD card slot in the center console. simply add all you music onto a SD card from you computer and pop it into the Console SD card slot in your RAM. A 32GB SD card can hold 545 hr. 48 min. of music at MP3 128Kbps quality. That is roughly 8187 songs.

True enough but I liked the ability to just store it and leave it
I will have to grab a SD card I suppose, pretty much the same idea

Yeah it pretty much is just get a SD card dedicated for the RAM and just leave it in there. the advantage is, if you need to add more music just bring in the card add your music and pop it back into the truck.

Default Uconnect 8.4A is a PITA

I don't know if this thing is a piece of junk or its just me. The compass is usually screwed up takes quite a bit ot time to figure which way we're going. The OAT gauge is way way off all the time. Its always losing radio signal. Its also always losing the phone and I can't figure out how to get it recognize it. I think its about time for a big hammer.

I had to drive in circles and get my nav/compass to work better.

The 2013 UConnect is SO much better then my 2012 and the SD Card is a better option than worrying about frozen drives - I'll take solid state any day and the size is up to you.

I've had the Ford Sync for years and love it, this UConnect is finally comparable.

The CD/DVD player is now a remote unit
it will go into your seat console, if you didn't order the Ram with it, the SD card & Smart Device will be in there too
The cd/dvd players are all going into the different Chrysler vehicles at the factories for now, as soon as they get enough made, they will start sending them out to the dealerships for sale & installation

2013 Ram 1500 Center Console Storage
The center consoles for both the bucket and 40-20-40 bench seat configurations are all-new with efficient storage in mind. The new bucket seat console utilizes the extra space as additional storage. The bench seat design includes three new cup holders built into the console lid that features a washable rubber bellow lining, allowing storage for most cup sizes as well as other personal items. Folding back the center console and center front seat base reveals a large storage bin that houses the CD player. Both versions of the console feature two tiers of storage and are available with a new multi-media port with USB, SD card and auxiliary inputs in the upper tier. Additionally, a 2.5-amp USB power port and 12-volt outlet are available to meet device-charging needs.
