2010x3.92 is on a distinguished road
Default 2wd trucks in the snow.

New guy here but old to the Dodge world. I kind of have this thing for Red 2wd Dodge trucks ha. Probably stems from my dads 79 LRE and his Red 89 Shelby when I was a kid. I started my truck life with a Red 1995 RC 2wd 318 1500. It was a one owner that had the dealer add on running boards and I added a shaker. Loved it but had to let it go when I found my dream truck, A red 99 R/T Dakota RC with shaker already installed. Loved that truck for years and wish I still had it. It was mistreated before I owned it( which is why I could afford it at age 17). At about 170k almost 2 years ago it started rusting to the ground. Still ran like top and had 100's of 1/4 mile passes on it. Best it ever did bone stock other than the shaker was 14.67 at 92mph. It was somewhat of a freak. Fast forward through a pretty 04 Mineral Grey QC 4.7 5 speed 4x4 Dak and a Beautiful 03 RC 4x4 2500 Hemi to today...

2010 Inferno red QC 1500 2wd Big Horn Hemi. Couldn't bring myself to spend another 4k on 4x4 when the purpouse of the truck was to gain fuel economy over my 03 3/4 ton. I must say I am completely happy with my step up into the new body style(I knew I would be). The truck has had some normal warranty issues but with the economy I gained and the 390 horses being transmitted to the ground via a 3.92 sure grip rear end it makes me .

The only real complaint I have is Dodge didn't want you to drive it sideways . (or the government didn't want you to drive it sideways)

Throughout my life I have been lucky enough to have multiple plow trucks at my disposal so the 2wd was never an issue. After college and a different town later I was starting to question my 2wd logic. I must say compared to my 95 and especially my R/T (duh) This truck has impressed me in the snow. It stops great and with patients you can get rolling about anywhere you want. Had about an 8 inch snow and I was driving the 2wd the same day. Haven't used any weight in the rear and the goodyears have almost 39k worth of wear on them.

No plans for any modification other than maybe a different type of tire (that will last longer) for the next go around. The cars are for going fast .

I just wanted to get an idea of what others thought of their 2wd Rams in the snow.

A hill was my worst enemy in the snow. I was fine with just enough momentum before the turn, but then the jackass in the car in front of me decided to come to a complete stop before his left turn (no oncoming traffic). I ended up getting to the top of the hill (where my right turn was) sideways in 2nd gear spinning the whole way.

I had a 2wd Dakota for years and never really had problems with winters, I even had it out on the oilfield roads and only put it into a snowbank once due to a downhill double s-curve. Yeah, you can always tell the people with 2wd trucks one some of our hills. I'm a nice guy and will occasionally help pull one up just to clear traffic. A big thing is also your tire choice, but too many people don't understand that concept.

I've owned a couple of 2wd drive trucks in the past, a Dodge and a Chevy. To be honest they both sucked in the snow, but thats comparing it to 4 wheel drive trucks I've owned. The truth is, there is about 10 to 20 days a year I use the 4 wheel drive. Of those days, there is maybe only 1 day a year, or 1 day every other year, I wouldn't get by with a 4 wheel drive.

So in my opinion, the 4 wheel drive is a luxury item, not a must have.

4X4 is must have for me since I am on the road before the plows sometimes and I have to get to work on time to open up. I don't like the stares I get when I am late even if I have a good reason like deep snow.

Good thing the snow has been light this year but one of these days another blizzard is coming.

my 2wd ram r/t has been great in the snow so far. I've driven nothing but 4wd vehicles untill this truck and honestly the only time you really need 4wd for daily driving is on hills. if you adjust your driving style for snow then you'll have no problem, slow and steady.

I drive the truck in my signature year round. (snow for 6 months of the year) I have 400 lbs of steel in the box during the winter and I don't have any issues.

I could use a 4wd about 3 days a year. I air the tires down and add a bit of weight in the back...no problems. You just have to know how to drive in the snow...not like most idiots out here that panic with the first sign of the white stuff.

2 wheel drive tricks
toss some weight near the tailgate
Back up hill if you can, believe me it works

if your right tire starts spinning, don't press harder on the throttle, press lightly on the brakes, until that tire quits spinning, press lightly on the throttle, this transfers power to the left side axle & you may walk right out of snow or mud
