Default Puddle lights

My left side mirror puddle light doesn't seem to work - the amber turn signal works, the lights are there on the right side mirror, but the left side mirror is out.

Is this an owner-repairable fix? I checked the owners manual and didn't see instructions on replacing these. I also missed any previous threads here. I have a maintenance date at the dealer in a couple of weeks, so if I need to get it done there, there it goes.

Thanks much!

No, there's nothing you can service yourself in this mirror. Presuming your truck is still under the 3/36 warranty, the dealer should replace it at no cost to you.

OK, thanks. Still under the 3/36 warranty, so I guess a new mirror is in work.

I to had to replace the driver side mirror due to water and condensation getting inside and burning the puddle lights. Dealer replaced the mirror under warranty.

My passenger Puddle Light started flickering two months ago so I headed to my dealer. I have the "Best" extended warranty that they sell through the Dealership. They denied the claim stating "Light bulbs are not covered under the extended warranty". After much debate with the warranty company by the service department...... still a no go. Funny thing is, The mirror is not serviceable as RamTech stated above. If the defroster dies or the motor goes out, they will replace it under the warranty. But, since it is a circuit board that has "Lights" in it..... Premier states that they will not cover it. My delaer, Miracle Chrysler Dodge Jeep in Gallatin, TN , called and discussed this with the higher echelon's at Premier and they still say no deal on replacing the mirror assembly. Very disappointing news for me as the mirror through the dealer is $500. Funny thing is when I bought the extended warranty they said it was bassically an extended factory warranty. Two seperate issues with my Ram and Premier denied both. If you guys have an issue with puddle lamps, inside factory warranty, get them fixed. There are aftermarket mirrors available but, the LED colors do not match the blue color of the factory puddle LED's. Good Luck.

The puddle lights themselves can be replaced without replacing the whole mirror assy. I just had my driver's side replaced under warranty, gave them the part #( 68087239AA driver side & 68087238AA passenger side)and they ordered a new one and replaced it. Its fairly easy to pop these out and check them for corrosion on the connectors, I threw a little bit of dielectric grease on mine to help protect them. Here is a thread that shows how to remove them: http://www.ramforumz.com/showthread....=puddle+lights

Unfortunately, my mirrors are not the tow mirrors with the smaller illuminating assembly on the arm. Mine have the puddle illuminator on the bottom of the mirror assembly itself and they wrap around the bottom and a little on the front. I have looked all over the internet and even talked to the tech at my dealer. I have found this: http://www.ebay.com/itm/400348228503...84.m1438.l2649

Maybe I will have to look around more. If I could find the circuit board.... I would have no problem soldering the connections. Or replacing the LED's with another color, if I knew the board was not corroded beyond repair. Maybe I could swap them out for the different style.

Oops, guess I assumed the standard mirrors had the same type of puddle lights as the tow mirrors, my bad. Please disregard my post unless you have tow mirrors.

I'm sure there has to be a way to pop out the light part of the mirror on the regular mirrors. If you can pop it out look for a part number on it you can order just a new one. See if you can do that and I'll look for a new one online. I have the tow mirrors and my puddle lights are seperate from the turn signals. My passenger side has had the puddle lights replaced twice and the turn signal replaced once. The drivers side has had the puddle replaced three times and the turn signal replaced twice. You'd think they'd find a better solution for these.
