Default Camshaft sensor leaking.

Would my leaking camshaft sensor be a sign of the sensor no longer functioning properly or, the gasket is just worn out?
Either way I am going to replace it, more curious because I have read one that has bit the dust lowers mpg's and power.

Most likely the seal is just worn out. Usually if your camshaft sensor isnt working properly, your engine will not start.....The ECU relys on that sensor for firing signal basically.
