Default 1500 left tire rubs sway bar in right turn

My 2011 RAM 1500 2x4 ( not my diesel that shows in my profile) left tire rubs the sway bar when in a slow sharp right turn, and vibrates the entire truck. Dealer had it for 2 days, you can see a spot the size of an egg where it rubs and can watch it touching when turning sharp, like getting into a tight parking spot. They checked the alignment - that I just paid Goodyear for with bad tires. Alignment is OK, dealer sent info to STAR hotline and they said to check other vehicles. They claim they did and they also rubbed and I'm going to in a few days when I get back home. Results - " no repair other than not to turn wheel all the way to the steering stop". Amazing. I've never had any vehicle that rubs and it's normal. Someone in another thread asked if they couldn't adjust the steering stop. What say you forum folks? I called another dealer and they said call customer relations, and that they've never told a customer that a rubbing tire was normal. I talked with my dealer manager and he said call customer relations also. As I turn that sharp slow right it also seems like the left side is bowing down. Thanks for any ideas, I'm going to call customer relations but wanted to get some ideas. Is there a steering stop adjustment? Thanks, Ed

Did you buy the truck new? Does it have aftermarket wheels/tire size? Is the sway bar centered? Does the truck pull off center? Ball joints/control arm bushings in good shape? I don't think there are any steering stops on a 2WD.

Hey Ram Em, This truck has been babied and 15,00 miles. Dodge had it to inspect what you ask about I guess - they're supposed to know these things. I would have no idea but will certainly pass these questions to their customer relations. Since I've had the truck not quiet 2 years, it's always had a drone or rough ride. Dodge replaced the drive shaft and the drone went. Rough riding/grinding - they replaced the wheel bearing hubs - think thats what they called it. THey swaid the roughness was road noise. I had enough of it and took it in this month - they said the tires were bad. I cant remember what it was but Goodyear agreed and nailed me good - BBB is working on that one. Goodyear did a front end alignment and Dodge just checked it. I don't know but sure have never had a tire rub on anything. And thats the only problem, turn right to the stop and be slow, the tire rubs hard on a bar they call the sway bar. It seems its just turning too tight and I have thoughts of the tire just folding in if I happen to go too fast turning. Thanks for your reply. Ed

The last problem that I'll assume was the road noise after replacing the wheel bearing hubs was bad tires with excessive road force of 40 and 41, I have a thread a few pages back about it.

Well let me make your evening! Landers Dodge in Southaven,MS said they reported the problem to the STAR system. The reply was test another truck on the lot and if it did it, it was normal. So they claimed to do that and it touched - so it was good. I said nope it isn't and tested 2 trucks. They did NOT touch. I told the service manager and he said humph and walked away. I told a store manager and customer support I was taking it to another dealer and they said fine. Wolfchase Dodge saw the truck and said immediately it was not right. Within a few hours they said the sway bar was moved and the right tire rubbed so they ordered new sway bars and bushings. They replaced them today - BUT - called. Has this truck been in a wreck? I said the wife went off the road and did paint damage, bumper, ripped off a side mirror but nothing underneath. THEN the manager said one sway bar is about 3/4 inches longer than the ones he ordered AND it doesn't have a Dodge serial number on it. But the repair facility never claimed a sway bar, the insurance confirmed they didn't pay for one. So HOW did this foreign sway bar get on this truck? I know one of the salesmen where I bought it had the truck for awhile and SIRIUS was activated 2 months before my wife bought it. Wondering if he had some jackleg repair made? But Wolfchase won't repair it under warranty and the insurance said they aren't paying for it so I hustled the rental car back that was supposed to be under the warranty. Any ideas other than a CARFAX that might show something? The other repair shop wouldn't put a sway bar on and not charge. I have no idea but as of now am out of pocket if I want that truck back. Thanks Ed
