When Chrysler needed a rear axle stronger than the 8 3/4, the turned to their truck line. The Dana 60 started as a truck rear. Even Hemi-equipped cars with Torqueflite automatic could have the 8 3/4 rear (Dana 60 was optional), but when coupled with the 4-speed stick, the Dana 60 was the only choice. It'll handle a V10 just fine.
The real figures on the 426 Hemi dual quad was only 800 hp & a 1000 lb of torque.
So I agree the V10 is no problem for a Dana 60. But Dodge went two better on my 2500 4x4 & put a Dana 80 in the rear. A 60 in the front.
