Default Smittybilt Light Bar

Does anyone have this lightbar? Any thoughts?

It looks great, but do you have to drill into bumper to mount it?

Yeah that seems to be the going rate. I'm wondering if anyone has this installed.

Is it stable or does it wobble? How is it mounted (looks like through the license plate holes.... Is that a good idea or not?)

Here are the installation instructions from the Smittybilt site. It looks like the license plate holes get bored out to accept the bar.

Does anyone know of a sturdy light bar which won't add to the overall length of the truck? One which might somehow be mounted over top of the front bumper?

Hi Misfit1981,

I have this exact Light Bar on my 2011 Outdoorsman and love it. It mounts through the 2 holes that are used for your front license place mounting. If I remember correctly, I did not have to drill the bumper holes out bigger when I mounted it. It is actually extremely sturdy when mounted through these 2 holes. I actually had a lady drive her new Minivan across the front of my truck along the light bar and she gauged the entire side of her van from back to front. Only thing that happenend to my lgiht bar was that it scraped a little paint off 2 of the light mounting tabs and pushed my 2 Driving Lights back. Again, it is amazingly sturdy. For the money, I think it is a great deal. I Purchased mine through AutoAnything and it was around $118.00 at the time. Good luck
