Default What kind of gas in your hemi?

Manual says it recommends 89 octane, i usually try to get shell 89 octane, but it seems like it costs a lot more than 87. Will any harm be done if I use 87? Or use off brand 89 octane, such as Freestate fuels, Safeway or Costco brand? My trucks an '04 qc hemi 4x4 with just under 100k on it

The manual says 87 acceptable, 89 recommended.
I don't believe that 87 will do any damage otherwise Ram wouldn't have put that in the manual. You're probably leaving something on the table performance wise though.

My bad, I didn't answer the op question. I have run 87 since I bought it. That said I just installed a Mopar CAI and am going to switch to 93 at my next fill up to see if I notice a difference from the higher octane. I like browndawg's answer about the corolla, if you want to save money on gas then you're driving the wrong vehicle.

I too have been running 87 octane in mine since I bought it. Seems to be running fine with it.

93 shell running 91 triity tune, better gas milage. But if you dont have any performance mods, just use a good 87 fuel.

I've run both 87 and 89 and can't tell any difference but for whatever reason I continue to run 89, lol. I agree with what a few peeps have said....the manual says 87 is acceptable so I am sure it is just fine.
