With the hemi? I expected much more. My old 98 blazer had 190 HP ran 15 flat on the 1/4 mile. With the Hyper tech reprogrammer that jumped it up to 220HP, dropped my 98 blazer to 14.3 in the 1/4. I would expect these rams to get much better then that, pushing 400HP, granted the rear is pretty light.

Even with the 'light' rear, the truck is still heavy! Plus you got a quad cab.

I see the 2012 1500 sport with a hemi weights 6,900. A 1998 blazer with the Vortec weights 4,992. Now the hemi is putting out 390, the vortech is putting out 195. Thats double the power. So your saying, tuned and all set up, a truck, that has DOUBLE the horse power and torque, and only has an extra 2,000 lbs, but making up for that in power, is going to run SLOWER then a mid sized SUV with a 6 cylinder and half the power?

Mine in particular had 500lbs extra of audio equipment in the cargo area too. Dont get me wrong. I just want to understand this. Im looking to do an exhaust and CAI on my truck, but if spending all this money is going to leave me trailing an older truck that I got rid of for a faster truck, im puzzled.

There is no way a 4.3 Blazer is running 14.3 with only a programmer

^I agree. I'm very familiar with those vehicles and that engine and they are strong for a little truck but even the s-10 SS didn't run that fast.

Ditto!
I've driven a 4.3 blazer back in 99 and there is no way.

Im familiar with them too. had one for 10 years, loved that truck. But yes, with my hypertech it hit 14.6. Its out there, blazin low, s10forum, they all will talk about it. Google even shows, a stock 4.3l vortech, depending on the driver, gets 16 flat, to mid 15's stock, depending on the drivers reaction time. (this is just what im pulling from google and reading all the different responses from different forums and averaging) Now, with the hypertech which added an extra 30hp, it would hit 14.6. I put a flowmaster cat back and an airraid CAI thinking Id be able to hit 14 flat, but never pulled that off. Never broke 14.6 actually. That was my best time, which was teh same with JUST the hypertech, and with the CAI and exhaust.

Sadly, this is the reason thats holding me back from pulling the trigger on the S&B CAI for my 1500 sport

s10 forum would have guys hitting mid 11's just by putting a 350 under the hood. Im just saying..I found that the #'s could be off. Id really expect a hemi ram to push a bit faster then 16 ( i believe that was the # given, too many screens open at work to find it) My hemi explodes on the highway hitting 90 before I even know it and I have to back down. Id expect at least 14's stock with this truck, even if it does weight a bit, but all that extra power.

again, just a friendly debate though, im not trying to troll anyone or start a war

That weight is off.
I weighed my Sport CC on a certfied scale.
With 1/2 tank and me, (198 lb ) it weighed 5798.

I'm not going to get into too much of debate but driver reaction time makes no difference to the 1/4 mile et because the timer doesn't start until the second beam is broken at the starting line. You can sit there for 3 seconds before breaking the beam and the et will not reflect that.

Anyway with the weight of the ram I would still expect mid to low 15's stock but these computers really hold back the performance.
390 crank usually shows up in these trucks at under 300 rwhp so it's either losing 90 hp plus through the drive line or the engine is not making what it's suppose to.

Plug the numbers into any online et calculator and it will give you a reasonable projection.

Hey thanks. Yeah I pulled the weight of a 2500 because I couldnt find the 1500 listed on the tech site. So this just goes to show its even lighter then I originally stated. I really feel that this truck should be hitting some better #'s personally, but again, it could all be driver timing as well.
