Glad to hear this - I was hoping I wouldn't need to spend a lot of money putting a good stereo in.

I think the Mark Levinson in my Lexus sucks azz though - probably the worst sounding factory "premium" sound system I've ever owned. I definitely wouldn't consider just being better than that to mean much.

I also think it's funny how the stereo is so good that you can actually HEAR the difference in quality from music ripped from a CD vs. music 'stolen' from the net. I never noticed how crappy the internet music was until this stereo.
Tell me how you have your EQ set.

I hope you are right about the 8.4. The alpine system I have in my 2010 wasnt anything to brag about.

I use bass 5, mid 4, high 6. Perfect for me.

Is it better than the 10 speaker system in the 2012s? I have the 10 speaker in my 2012 and while it isn't terrible, I find it doesn't go loud enough or have enough power even with the bass set on 10.

Never had a 2012, so I have nothing to compare it too, but I think it sounds incredible.

Amen! When you start hearing instruments in songs you THOUGHT you were familiar with yet have never noticed before, like chimes in certain spots of the song, etc., then you really start to wonder what kind of crap quality sound system you listened to in your old ride that had no hint of those sounds.

I used to scoff at the HD radio as a gimmik but i don't anymore after hearing it on my Alpine.

I currently have a 2011 CC Sport with the supposedly "premium" Alpine system. To be blunt, I think it sounds washed out/muddy without any separation. The reason for such poor sound was because of really cheap paper tweeters and door speakers. Combine that with a really sad amplifier and woofer you have a system which in my opinion did not warrant the "premium" label.

I am happy to say that the 2013 "premium" Alpine system has upgraded all of its components which produces a remarkable improvement in sound quality.

I look forward to taking delivery of my 2013 Laramie Longhorn
in a couple months (I hope)

no need for premium sound when all i listen to is Howard Stern 24/7
that's not to say i wouldn't enjoy the 10 speaker system.

i do all of my critical music listening at home with a pair of HD650's
