Default traction control sucks

I have a 2011 Sport 4x4.
I left it at work for a week while I was on call and took my work truck home.
It had snowed a bit in the meantime.
When I went to pull out my truck, it just spun the one wheel and wouldn't move ( no LS )
Rather than put it in 4WD, I though I would experiment a bit.
I turned off TC and tried again. Both rear wheels spun a bit and I pulled right out.
I wish I could just turn it off for good.

Completely different vehicle but my dad does the same thing getting up the hill to his house in winter. He's got 2011 FWD Taurus and the TC robbed too much power. He turns it off, floors it, and up he goes. So happy I don't have it

I had a 2007 Nissan X-Terra 4X4 that had traction control. I HATED IT! I've got stuck often with it because of the TC. Most vehicles have it standard now a days. This is one of the reasons I bought a 2500 instead of a 1/2 ton, fewer nannies (has ABS and torque mgt. or something like that). If U really want 4 wheel drive get selectable lockers like ARB air lockers, not cheap but the best there is. Someone must know how to disable the TC.

This is my first Ram after 6 F150s.
I like this truck, but I assumed a 390 HP 4WD truck would have LS standard.
I should have done more research.

That's why I bought the Outdoorsman. I could not find another one on the lots around here with 3.92 and LSD. I turn off TC every time I get in my truck.

Would I be able to turn off TC with a tuner?

am I the only one that likes traction control? I was just thinking the other day that I didn't even need to use 4X4 yet in situations where I would of had it on the whole time in my old truck.

I'm on you're side. No it sure as heck is not perfect, but find it does do an awesome job of keeping me alive!

I do have to remember to let it do it's job, but when it needs to it seems to kick in and do what it's supposed to!

The hard truth is, nannies are for drivers who can't drive IMO. If U don't make mistakes U will not learn. Hopefully they are not big mistakes but... Maybe I'm old or something but I really HATE any and all nannies. Do nannies help prevent accidents and save lives? Yeah, they probly do but still hate them on my vehicles. I can think of a few instances where they nearly killed me before.

I have found many times that to get unstuck, you turn of TC which is kind of a contradiction. This has happened to me a few times.
Sometimes a bit of wheelspin is desirable.
Also if you are sliding a bit in snow with TC off, you can control it with the throttle.
With the TC/ESC on, it will cut the throttle and apply brakes.
This can cause you to go in a direction you didn't intend to.
You can easily try this yourself. ( if you have snow )
BTW, there is a good thread going about the subject in the 2011 section:
