Default Gearing Question

I have an 8" BDS lift on my 2010 2500 Hemi with 38" tires. Clearly, I need to regear, but I am wondering if the ideal gearing is going to be to go with 4.88. I do a mix of highway and city driving and am currently averaging 7.4 MPG with the beastly 38" toyo's.

Any advice would help

I'm guessing you have 3.92's now? You're putting alot of stress on the transmission so beware. I don't know if 5.13's can fit in the Corp. rear end but 4.88's+ are a must.

according to this transmission rpm ratio calculator I found:

http://www.ringpinion.com/Calculator...spx#TireHeight

4.88 gears with 38" tires at 70mph in 5th gear (0.67 ratio) = 2024 engine RPM

Looks good to me. Play around with the calculator and see what you like.

If you are not towing then I agree....4.88's if they fit. I like the "fun" factor. I had 4.56 oem gears in my 05 SRT Ram and 4.88's were far better. (32" tall oem tire/ w 6 speed)
