Default Ambient air temp indicator can't be repaired

Picked up a new 2013 Ram last week. The ambient air temp indicator on the dash is consistently 8 degrees off.

Went to the dealer that sold me the truck. They changed the sensor located on the underside of the driver outside mirror. The problem still exists. Service manager said "sorry we can't fix it".

That is so wrong on so many levels. When I went into the dealer I had only 175 miles on the truck. It may be insignifigant to the dealership and others but a) I do depend on it b) I expect it work properly.

It isn't a Lamborgini but I did pay 35 K and worked for every one of those dollars.

Pardon me for rambling, I think the dash unit needs to be changed..... any thoughts out there?

Contact another dealer in your area and see what they say, they get paid for warranty repair work, I don't see why they have to stop at just the outside sensor, what does another truck on the dealer lot say? if that don't work, Contact Chrysler and make a complaint.

My intention is to contact the Customer Care people momentarily.

The dealer actually put my sensor in another 2013 on the lot and it worked fine.

The put a new sensor in my truck and it was still 8 degrees off.

Wow, that dealership really has great troubleshooting skills. We replaced your sensor that we verified to be good and that didn't fix it so we give up.

Not an abundance of effort.

I am trying to be patient.... I could be a bull in a china shop and I didn't want to grab the service manager by the scruff of the neck just yet.

It is called "progressive persistence"

Mine is off, and from what I gather, many others are as well. I just assumed they will release a flash update or something.

Assuming there are no DTC's in the IPC or PCM and no TSB's are located (which there are not any, currently), the IPC self test has passed, resistance is verified in the ATS, the dealership is pretty much stuck with escalating the case to STAR for any other information regarding troubleshooting. Replacing a part that tested good in an attempt to fix your problem is actually going above and beyond what they're supposed to do.

I don't know what all that means but why can't they swap out other components?

This has been talked about on these forums many times. There are tons of owners that are having the same issue. I am one of them. My outside temp is consistently showing a 6-8 degree difference.

Hopefully Ram comes out with a fix. Be patient grass hopper.
