Default 2011 sport towing issues

Hi guys I`m just looking for a bit of info on rearend gear ratio`s. I`ve got a 2011 sport cc with the 3.55 rearend and I find it;s sluggish when towing my 14` lanscape trailer or 24`camper. A friend of mine has an 09 slt with the 3.92 rearend and it seems much better and he consistently gets better fuel mileage towing or not. Anyway my question is would a 2013 sport with 3.92 rearend be more efficient at towing or am i just wasting my time trying to trade up. Some opinions would be greatly appreciated!!

I went from a 2010 to 2011 for that reason alone. YES!!! its worth the time, and money. I will never, ever own another Ram with anything less than 3:92s.

I have the 3.92's and it pulls my 26 foot trailer nicely. Is it that much of a difference with he 3.55's? I would have thought the 3.55's would at get better gas mileage.

^^^^Yes, It's a different Ram with 3:92s. Mine is a 4x4, My 2nd Ram with 3:92s gets better mpg. Empty or pulling.

The 3.55's on paper should get you better mileage. But in the real world, especially if you have hills or tow, the 3.92's will do better due to putting the engine in a better RPM range for the Hemi. As for trading, you can buy a lot of fuel for the price difference between your 2011 and the 2013.

Even with the 8 spd tranny option, I would still opt for the 3.92's due to the upper tranny gears still being the same ratio as current trucks.

Anybody consider changing the gears? The only problem would be the speedo unless somebody has come out with a '11+ programmer yet.

Man, when i bought my Ram i didn't even consider a gear ratio. So glad i got the 3.92 since i ended up with a 27' 5th wheel!
