Default Uconnect add on for RES?

Hey guys,
I have a RES stock HU. it does not have the uconnect but does have the buttons. I have seen the uconnect add-on kit form the OEM parts web site but at $360 I dont think its worth the money, though it would be nice to add my ipod to the HU too. but that is over half the cost of what i could get a pioneer nav HU with BT and GPS and iPOD all in one unit.

So i guess you are wondering why I posting then? Well i thought just maybe there is somebody that might be upgrading and no longer needs the factory uconnect option. I may be interested in buying the uconnect kit for a reasonable price. other wise i will just wait to upgrade later.

look for a RBZ 430 radio if you decide to upgrade
personally i would look at the CRUTCHFIELD website & go aftermarket
even if you have to do a bit of cutting & go aftermarket to get the radio that you want
it is well worth it

Yea I really think i am going with a pioneer AVIC X940BT eventually, but I figured if I could add the Uconnect and Ipod integration for cheap until then I would be happy with my HU for a bit longer since it already had satellite.

If you look around online & eBay, you'll find the kit for about $225 and the optional iPod cable is around $30. Do the install yourself, then have the dealer do the programming of the vehicle. If you call around you can find a dealer to do that for about $50. (programming the vehicle is something that needs to be done in order for the CAN BUS network to power up the module and would need to be done no matter how you get Uconnect installed).

Even if you did get the module itself from someone who did an upgrade, you would still need to purchase a harness, iPod cable & mic in order to do the install.

Since you don't have the Uconnect module, you can opt for a RER or RHR radio which has the Uconnect built into the radio rather than a separete module. But that's only if you like OEM radios.

I did upgrade to the RHR, and now have an unused Uconnect module in my truck which I could remove. It's an older unit so I don't know if it's possible to hoop up an Ipod to it. It didn't have the cable from the factory, and I didn' thave an Ipod.. So it wasn't important to me. PM me and we can talk about the module and if you want it.
