Arrow You cant spell GLass without the A**

While trying to do a nice thing by donating a nice Fridge to one of the High School teams, I accidentally broke the passenger side pane of my back window! GRRRR! ("No good deed goes unpunished" right?)
+ The center section was open so the glass was only supported on three sides, and while lifting the fridge, I inadvertently pushed on the glass with my arse.

MY Question IS:

Can I just replace that 1/3 piece of the window? I have the power slider and am praying I dont have to buy the whole window and installation.

IF I must replace the whole window, does anyone know a good source? or even a source for the single pane of glass if possible??

TIA

shit happens man. I've thought about getting those backracks to protect the back windows, as I'm always throwin firewood and things back there and it's only a matter of time before me, or most likely someone else, chucks somethin through the back window.

hope you find a quick efficient fix! and make sure you check your side view mirrors next time your backin that thang up

So if I am understanding you correctly you broke the passenger side window and cracked it?

Well I hate to say it but your screwed. If you had broken the middle one you could have gotten away with fixing just that one. About a year ago I broke the driver side back window, well the dodge dealer did.

They did a lot of research since they were having to pay for it and ultimately figured out that they had to replace the entire thing.

The backseat has to be moved/taken out I think. You obviously have to cut away the old seal and then get the bad/broken glass out. I'm not 100% sure but I want to say it ran them close to $1500 to install a new one and take the old out.

Does anyone else find the word "arse" near as funny as I do?? It's awesome when someone uses it properly in a sentence and you aren't expecting it. I got a good chuckle out of that, lol.

Anyway, on to your problem. I dunno about how much you will have to replace but I would certainly check with my local glass place before rushing to let the dealer do it. Nothing against the dealer but a lot of times the local glass folks specialize in this stuff and can do some things that you might not ordinarily think they could. Good luck!

Arth is correct. Had you borken the middle slider, you would have been ok to just replace that sliding part. Since you broke the side one, it's the whole thing.
I did that to my 2010 a couple of yrs ago (2x4 through the window). I went to a local glass shop and went through insurance (dad's homeowners since I was at his house) and they took care of it. Find a good glass shop and it won't be a problem and done fairly quick (a day).
Funny thing is they had me on file from the week before b/c I got a rock in the windshield coming back from my sister in laws house. They had a huge storm that looked like tornado damage and a tree hit their house. So after spending an hour on a ladder plus chopping up a tree, on my hour drive home I got a nice rock in the window (again, no good deed...).
I hope this helps and sorry about that man.
