Default Engine Bay Cleaning - Can I?

I searched it on the Forum but answers that I found where not exactly clear.....

I would like to simply spray the engine area with some mild degreaser and just hose off. No power washing or anything crazy. Im sure someone here has done it so what steps should I take to make sure it will start and drive after im done

Thanks.

Just keep the water pressure low and try to avoid any electrical conections and you'll be fine. Even if you get some spray on them you'll be ok just dont soak em.

I try to clean the engine bay in mine every month and no issues so far

Make sure the engine is cool, the wrap your filter and alternator in a plastic bag. Hit it with a degreaser, I always use simple green, let it sit for 5-10min, rinse off at low pressure, you can get the electrical wet, but don't blast it and it'll be fine. I then use Mother's spray protectant and wipe off any excess after 10 min. Let the engine bay dry for a few minutes, then run the engine to dry everything.

The great thing about a clean engine compartment is once you've given it a good once over, maintaing it is very easy.

Go for it.

I have been washing under the hood of my truck since new, at least every second wash, with a high pressure hose, just not up close. I keep the tip at least a foot and a half away and it looks like new still. I have done this with all my vehicles, I have never wrapped anything and never had an issue to this day. I hose down the whole engine bay with soap and then close the hood, no rinse, it literally looks brand new still.

Sorry if I'm missing something here.....you said you hose it down with soap and NO Rinse? Doesn't that leave dried soap residue?
