Default Auxiliary Reverse Light Help Needed

I want to install a set of auxiliary reverse lights and have them switched by an on-off-on lighted rocker switch in the cab. That will give me the option of having them fully on, fully off, or on when the truck is in reverse. I want to wire them through a fused relay. Can someone tell me which rocker switch I need to buy? Is it considered a SPDT switch? Any opinions on where to mount the switch in the cab? I have a 2012 1500 Big Horn. Also if anyone has a wiring diagram for this kind of setup I would appreciate it. Pictures of other peoples set ups are also great. Thanks in advance for the help!

Sounds like you will need a SPDT (single pole double throw) switch with the center being off.. Common (center) would go to the relay, one side would go to your reverse light wire, and the other going to +12 (probably from the key switch so that the lights won't come on unless the ignition switch is on.) Wired this way, center is off all the time, the one side would trigger the lights off of the reverse light circuit, the other way would be on all the time.

Thanks for the help Andy, that is the way that I thought it should be wired but I figured I would corroborate that before I started hooking everything up.

I think I have information overload. I have looked at so many different wiring diagrams for this that I am now officially unsure...bordering on confused. Can someone confirm that this would work? I would be following the diagram on the right. It may work on paper but it doesn't work in my head!

Also, I want to use a SPDT rocker switch like this one. Will the lights on the switch light up as they are supposed to if I hook it up this way? There are 4 terminals on the back of the switch, one being a ground.

These are the lights:

Check to see if the switch you want to use has an additional 2 leads for the light. If it does connect one side to ground and the other to the center of the switch. This should give you a light anytime the lights are on. If the light is an LED, then it should also be marked with a + and - on it.

Otherwise your wiring diagrams look good. I'd just double check the relay wiring.

For a 4/5 pin style relay, the wiring is wrong by that diagram. The B+ feed and load output should be on opposite sides as should the trigger and ground.

Switched input should be on terminal 85.
Ground should be on terminal 86.
B+ should be on terminal 87.
Power to the lights on terminal 30.
