I am so glad to learn that I am not the only one dreaming about a crewcab with long box.
THis wait is killing me! I am ready to go the dealership and just get a new 2013 from the parking lot, but I am trying so hard to hold my horses and wait.
I guess I will be ordering one ASAP.
By the way, when you order a new truck, how do you figure they will not rip you off when the truck arrive?? How ill you negotiate the price????
PS: Let everybody know the first day that the Crew cab long bed is open for orders!!!
I actually want a V6 4x4, Air suspension , long bed + Big horn option if available....
Cheers.

Well first off don't leave a deposit down. If they insist you have too leave something then don't leave more then $100 and make sure it is fully refundable. This will allow you to not lose the deposit if they screw up with your order. Before you sign for the order make sure you look over that print out with a fine tooth comb. to make sure its what you want. Also when you sign for the order your also signing on the settled price. So they will have to honor that price once the truck is delivered and you actually make the purchase. So you will negortiate the price before you place your order.

Now here is where you gamble with the price. The dealers will ask you do you wish to take the current rebates/incentives offered Now or take what the rebates are upon actuall purchase when the truck is delivered. If you are comfortable with what the rebates are then I suggest taking it. This way you know what you are going to actually pay. The off side of this is that in 3-4 months or so later when the truck is delivered Chrysler may have even larger rebates/incentives which may be possiable you save even more.

Personially here in Canada the incentives are pretty good as is right now and I'm happy to save additional $9250 with some dealers offering an additional $4500-$5000 for almost a 14-15k savings.

Easy said than done. 3 dealers that I talked to here in Nashville wants at the least $500 deposit, but they all asked for $1000
It make me nervous putting even $500 because than they have you by the balls...
Now with the talk of the diesel 1500 coming in the fall, heck, they better hurry up with this V6 or I may just wait for the diesel engine.... Hopefully it will not be a $4K option as some posts are saying...

Seeing how small the QC 4th gens are the CC is the way to go I think and if I was buying I would want to wait for the 6 4. The short box just looks strange to me.

IMO it would be crazy to order before Ram announces what the dang GVWR is. You may be getting a truck with 800 lbs. maximum payload.

It won't be that low. at the least it will be close to the same as a short box crew and have a max payload of around 1100lbs.

I should know in the next few days what the crew with 6'4 GVWR is. I was told earlyer (back in nov) that it maybe slightly more then the 6800lb.

I hope so. If it's as low as I'm afraid it might be, I'm probably going to have to pony up more money and get an F150 instead.

Precisely my scenario too. At this stage I'd almost hate to end up buying a F150 but right now I'm looking at the short box Ram Laramie crewcab w. Rambox with an 1150# payload. A F150 Supercrew with 6'5" box would have between 1840# with max. trailer tow package and 2330# with heavy duty payload package (1560# without either package).

Maybe, just maybe, I can get by with an 1150# factory payload (using a utility trailer at times) but if the Ram crew cab long box option means another hit to the payload then I'm out.

It really doesn't matter if the axles on the Ram are rated at 3900# and that air suspension helps handle a greater load or if Ford is exaggerating their capacities - it is the legalities associated with factory GVWR and truck weight which ultimately decide how capable the truck is going to be to me.
