Default 4th Gen. Single Exhaust Upgrade to Dual?

I have a 4th Gen Ram (5.7) with single exhaust. I love the look of the dual exhaust pipes coming out the back. I like a deep, mean growl, but being the loudest thing on the road is not important.

There's a local place that "bends their own pipe". They can install a flowmaster muffler and their pipe for $300. My friend had his F150 done there, and it sounds great from the outside. Anyone got any experience? Is this setup a bad idea with the MDS?

I've read threads of people complaining about "droning". Would this setup put me at risk?

if you want a muscular tone i would lean towards a magnaflow setup... Flows are a sound mod which really only sounds good to people who like Flows..I recognize the sound and know that it doesn't sound right at wot, but at idle and part throttle yes.. drone is from piping..when i use to run my exhaust all the way out, the pipe resonance was irritating around 2k rpms, but when i had it dumped after axle, it totally eliminated the drone..

Also, make sure this "place" is using stainless pipe, and not "aluminized". It would be a shame to replace all the OE stainless pipe with aluminized. Most shops do not have stainless pipe. If I were/wanted to replace the whole exhaust, I'd just spend a little more and go with a complete aftermarket catback kit. However, most of those would require cut-outs in your rear bumper as well.

Be sure to get resonators put in near the tailpipes. They are the best thing for eliminating drone and other unwanted exhaust noise.

I'm thinking about going with magnaflow #16870 eventually when my wife approves. It seems like the best overall pick from what I've read on the forums. What's a good price to pay? I've checked out the web and it looks like around $700. Anyone got a better deal elsewhere?

Please stay away from "bend it" shops. It's all squish bent tubing. It loses it's diameter as its bent and distorts and just looks like crap on top of it all. Go with a mandrel bent cat back setup.

Or if you're able like myself. Build a complete system from scratch out of mandrel bends which I always do. It is very time consuming though as you have to design the system on paper and order bends and mufflers and then make it all jive.

I've done basic systems all the way up to $6000 full stainless oval tubing v-band clamp systems.

...I know mandrel is better but my whole exhaust is a bend it setup...my setup from the header collectors back cost me $200 and has lasted almost 200k miles thus far..this included the 22" magnaflow, all pipes and labor, I only supplied my cutouts...

Whatever floats your boat. You get what you pay for these days. $200 will get you SFA.

true..that 200 has lasted 7 years an 200k miles, my muffler guy stands behind his work and many, many forum guys locally go to him. I am able to spend my money on other mods to go fast... now, spending money on a cheap cutout like raceland is a different story, here is where i would spend the money and get Dmh's which was also installed when my exhaust was done and has lasted all these years an miles..
